Artificial reef

Concept Urban quays are mostly smooth vertical walls with little room for marine life. This concept adds 3D-printed concrete elements along existing quay walls, at the waterline and below it. Their texture, cavities and overhangs give algae and mussels surfaces to settle on, and give small fish shelter. The geometry is designed parametrically for each quay, so the elements can be retrofitted without rebuilding the wall.
